Antoine Griezmann has confirmed via a video posted to Atlético Madrid’s official Twitter account that he will be leaving the club this summer.

“After speaking to Cholo and Miguel Angel, I wanted to speak to the fans that have always supported me,” said the Frenchman in an address to the club’s supporters.

“I’ve chosen to explore new challenges. It’s been a tough decision to make, but it’s what I feel I need.

“I want to thank your for all your support throughout these past five years, winning my first trophies as a professional.

“I will always remember you, I will always keep you in my heart. It’s never easy for a player to express all these emotions, and I just wanted you to know as soon as possible.

“Thanks again for everything. It’s been five amazing years in which I’ve been trying my best to take pics with you, home and away. Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart.”

Griezmann will play his final game for the club against Levante this weekend.

Reports in Spain late on Tuesday evening suggest the French forward is poised to join Barcelona in a deal worth €120m.
