Ada Hegerberg has made Women’s Champions League history on Wednesday.

The Lyon striker netted in the 12th minute of their game against Danish side Fortuna Hjøring to become the outright top goalscorer in the competition’s history.

Lyon, who won the Champions League last season to make it four titles in a row, lead 6-0 on aggregate.

Hegerberg scored in the first leg to equal the 51-goal record set by Germany legend Anja Mittag.

It took Mittag 68 games to reach that tally but Hegerberg has made it to 52 goals in just 50 appearances.

The Norwegian won the inaugural women’s Ballon d’Or last year and will be hoping to claim the award again at the end of 2019.
