The Spanish Football Federation have confirmed that Luis Enrique will return as national team coach ahead of next year’s European Championships.
The former Roma and Barcelona man left his position as La Roja boss in March this year to look after his terminally ill daughter who sadly died from bone cancer in August.
Roberto Moreno then took charge of the team for their remaining qualifiers and has since guided the two-time winners to the pan-European tournament.
But RFEF president Luis Rubiales has now confirmed that Luis Enrique will return to his position as head coach until at least the 2022 World Cup but that Moreno will not be a part of the coaching set-up.
Rubiales has been accused of gross mismanagement by some sections of the Spanish press with Moreno reportedly furious at how he has been treated by the Federation – although that is an allegation that is strenuously denied by the president.
