Jürgen Klinsmann is the new head coach of Hertha BSC until the end of the season.
The Berlin-based club have decided to relieve Ante Covic of his duties after four defeats in succession. A shocking 4-0 defeat to Augsburg on Sunday has proven to be the final straw.
Covic took over in the summer and had worked with Hertha for over 20 years. The Bundesliga club are eager to continue working with him in the future, general manager Michael Preetz has confirmed.
Klinsmann had been appointed in an advisory role at the Olympiastadion at the start of the month.
It is the former Germany striker’s first job in his native country since a disastrous spell in charge of Bayern Munich in the 2008/09 season.
The ex-USMNT boss will face Borussia Dortmund in his first match as Hertha head coach on Saturday.
