For the first time ever German manufacturer DERBYSTAR will provide the match balls for every Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga games next season.
Officials representing German football’s top divisions unveiled the new design on Friday, claiming that the ball will be the best flying spherical object ever.
“DERBYSTAR’s balls have enjoyed an excellent reputation for decades and have already been an integral part in many Bundesliga stadiums in the past,” Ansgar Schwenken, DFL Director of Football Affairs & Supporters and Member of the DFL Executive Committee told reporters.
“The long tradition of continuously outstanding ball quality underlines the great expertise and experience of the company.
“The ball has already impressed through its outstanding aerodynamic properties resulting from the intersection of 32 panels consisting of 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons.
“Flight characteristics are further optimized through the novel golf ball structure of the material surface.”
The DERBYSTAR will debut on August 24 when DFB Pokal champions Eintracht Frankfurt take on Bayern Munich in the Supercup.
