Borussia Dortmund got their pre-season campaign off to a flyer as they defeated Liverpool 3-2 in front of over 80,000 at the historic Notre Dame Stadium.
Dortmund wasted no time in launching their attack and were rewarded with a third-minute goal from Paco Alcácer after a frantic scramble in the box.
Liverpool hit back after 35 minutes with a cool finish from Harry Wilson following a brilliant dummy by Ryan Kent on Fabinho’s ball into the box.
Dortmund would make nine changes at half-time while Jürgen Klopp opted to wait until the hour-mark to change up his squad.
Perhaps the Liverpool boss would regret that decision as Dortmund would catch the Reds napping on a corner in the 53rd minute, allowing Thomas Delaney to tap in a Thorgan Hazard cross.
Five minutes later, Jacob Bruun Larsen smashed home Dortmund’s third after some brilliant work on the wing from Marius Wolf.
It wouldn’t be 2019 pre-season without a Rhian Brewster strike, as he would bag a consolation goal from the spot for his third in as many games for the Reds.
Liverpool will next play Sevilla on Sunday at Fenway Park in Boston while Dortmund will head to Austria to take on Udinese next week.
