10 Real Salt Lake [7-1-6] (+6)

RSL has unexpectedly shot up the charts and now sits in third place in the Western Conference after their third straight win in just eight days. Nick Rimando and company have only allowed one goal in that span, yet the jury is still out as they have lost by three or more goals on three different occasions in 2018.

9 LAFC [6-3-4] (N/C)

LAFC are struggling to deal with four players away on World Cup duty, including captain Laurent Ciman who will make the Belgium squad should Vincent Kompany not be fit. Not having Marco Ureña, Carlos Vela, and Omar Gaber will hurt LAFC in the short-term, yet Adama Diomande scoring his first goal in MLS will provide the black and gold with a glimmer of hope.

8 New England Revolution [6-4-4] (+3)

The Revs have established themselves as a clear favorite to make the playoffs after their latest in the line of impressive victories – a 2-1 triumph over New York Red Bulls. Rescuing a point against Atlanta United is certainly no easy task either. Can they stay consistent for 34 matches?

7 Portland Timbers [6-3-3] (-2)

The Timbers really should have taken all three points against the Galaxy to extend their winning run to a league-best seven matches. However, they ran into the brick wall known as David Bingham who made nine saves including many highlight-reel efforts to keep the score 1-1.

6 FC Dallas [7-5-1] (+1)

Two big wins in four days over both teams from Los Angeles have sent FCD into second place in the Western Conference. Despite only having lost once this season (@ NYCFC), Dallas hasn’t been able to convince many that they are a contender to win the league. They won’t have to wait too long, as the Red Bulls and Atlanta United both await Dallas over the next month.

5 NYCFC [8-3-3] (+1)

NYCFC made light work of Orlando City, defeating them 3-0 behind a brace from Ismael Tajouri to give him seven goals on the season. David Villa came off the bench and provided an instant spark and allowed the Cityzens to pull away from the Lions late. With Tajouri’s emergence as a budding young star, will Patrick Vieira opt to use Villa in a reserve role more often? We may have received our answer, as Villa started amongst a team mainly comprised of reserves for their United States Open Cup match tonight.

4 Columbus Crew [7-5-3] (-1)

The Crew’s impressive shutout streak (512 minutes) was snapped in some style by Toronto FC, as Columbus fell behind by three goals in front of their own crowd. Those in attendance who stuck around were treated to a show as Columbus scored three goals in the final 23 minutes to somehow earn a point against the defending champions.

3 New York Red Bulls [7-1-4] (-2)

After what seemed like a statement win to the league in Atlanta, the Red Bulls have only picked up a single point in their last two matches against Philadelphia and New England. Their offensive production has taken a couple nights off and have another important Eastern Conference battle this Saturday at Columbus.

2 Sporting Kansas City [8-1-3] (+2)

After not being able to break through the 10 men of Columbus for the entire second half, SKC’s offense picked Minnesota United apart with brilliant attacking play and a shockingly exceptional performance by 19-year-old Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal – who scored and completed 97% of his passes in his first significant minutes in his MLS career – coming off the bench in the 18th minute for the injured Yohan Croizet.

1 Atlanta United [9-2-3] (+1)

Josef Martínez is only in his second MLS season and just tied the all-time MLS record with his fifth career hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Philadelphia. While the stats and the result won’t be concerning, being in a dogfight despite being up two men for over 70 minutes is not a good look.
