Vincent Kompany believes that the whole of Manchester will be supporting City when they take on Liverpool in the Champions League.

The Premier League leaders have been drawn against Jürgen Klopp’s side in next month’s quarter-finals.

But the Belgian centre-back is confident that even those on the red side of Manchester will be cheering on the Citizens.

“It is the only thing people talk about in Manchester right now,” Kompany told Sky Sports from the Belgium camp ahead of next week’s friendly against Saudi Arabia.

“The Champions League is obviously massive, somehow I feel like we do get a little bit of support from the United fans for that fixture.”

Manchester City will travel to Anfield for the first leg of the last eight encounter on April 4, before hosting Liverpool on April 10.
