Tomás Boy did not have a chance to celebrate his first match in charge of Chivas.

The rojiblanco side lost 1-0 at Monarcas Morelia thanks to a first-half strike from Edison Flores.

Boy praised the effort of his players but acknowledged the difficulty of the team’s task to salvage the Clausura 2019.

“The team has played a good game, has been competitive. The second half we have worked very well and we dominated the opponent.”

“We gave up a goal that was very well done by Morelia, showing what they can do, and they caught us in a bad way.”

In the post-match press conference, the 66-year-old manager also discussed the damage of a season dogged by poor performances.

“I think that in general the pressure has made a dent in the players, today they were a little shook.”

“It was always very difficult, the first hurdle is not met, we sought to win this match to have chances. It seemed utopian, in the end it is because the result does not favor us,” Boy said referring to the sacred flock’s slim chances of qualifying for the Liguilla.

The newly appointed Chivas boss looked toward the relegation coefficient battle for next campaign.

“We won’t qualify for the Liguilla, it was nearly impossible to do it. There were possibilities but today Morelia left us still and now we have to keep adding points so that in the next tournament the team will enter will less angst about the drop.”

“I remind you that I saved five teams; Veracruz, Querétaro, Atlas twice.”
