As expected, left-back Jesús Angulo and centre-back Alexis Peña became the sixth and seventh signings of the Ricardo Peláez era.

Angulo officially joins from Santos Laguna after starting 15 times on loan with rivals Atlas last season. The soon-to-be 22-year-old can also play centre-back, as he has done four times for the Mexico national team.

“I’m motivated. It is a great opportunity to show you all and be in a huge team. It means many more people will watch me play and, of course, a whole lot more than just that.

“Chivas is a great institution and since I was a child I liked it, I have always been to this team and now playing in this team is like a dream come true.”

Meanwhile, Chivas also announced the acquisition of soon-to-be 24-year-old Necaxa centre-back Alexis Peña in a $4m deal, double what Necaxa paid Pachuca last January.

However, Ricardo Peláez made an announcement that will disappoint some Chivas supporters, as he declared an end to the new signings, which means Héctor Moreno and Marco Fabián will not be joining the squad.

Chivas invested a total of $51m to acquire Víctor ‘Pocho’ Guzmán, Uriel Antuna, Cristian ‘Chicote’ Calderón, Jesús Angulo, José Juan ‘Gallito’ Vázquez, José Madueña. and Alexis Peña, while José Juan Macías returned to the squad.
