As everyone knows, Chivas are committed to only having Mexican players at the club, which can often make their transfer windows a difficult time.

However, being one of the most followed clubs in the world, Chivas are not afraid to splash the cash should the opportunity arrive.

During the most recent winter window, new sporting director Ricardo Pelaez oversaw a massive overhaul leading many to dub this season’s team ‘SuperChivas 2.0’, spending well over $50m on seven players.

It didn’t all go according to plan though, as $10m signing ‘Pocho’ Guzmán was found to have tested positive for doping during his time at Pachuca, voiding the transfer.

Despite making three of their five most-expensive signings in club history, Chivas came out of the gate dreadfully slow, fuelling talks that Luis Fernando Tena needed to be sacked.

Chivas held onto Tena and that proved to be fruitful, going on a four-match unbeaten run (including three wins) before play came to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.
