Arsenal warned their supporters of the potential danger in traveling to Russia to attend the Europa League quarter-final away clash against CSKA Moscow.

The Gunners official website also published the travel advice issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that claims that “due to heightened political tensions between the UK and Russia, you should be aware of the possibility of anti-British sentiment or harassment at this time.”

However, Russian official Alexei Sorokin, downplayed such claims and responded by assuring Arsenal fans that they have nothing to fear.

Sorokin is the chief of Russia’s World Cup organising committee and a senior member of the Russian Football Union.

“We will ensure security in equal measures to all, from dignitaries to fans,” Sorokin told TASS.

“There are absolutely no grounds for such warnings.

“To us, there is no difference which country people come from or what our diplomatic relations with them are.”

Tensions between the two countries have increased as both nations announced they will be expelling diplomats from the UK and Russia, respectively.

Earlier in the week, it was also announced that the Royal family and UK government officials had no plans of attending Russia 2018 World Cup.

Arsenal’s away match in Moscow is scheduled for April 12.
