Over the weekend, Flamengo supporters received incredible news that 17-year-old Reinier has signed a new contract that could keep him at the club until 2024.
More importantly, it keeps Flamengo from losing their biggest asset on the cheap.
Some of the biggest clubs from all over the world bid upwards of €35m for the player over the summer before Reinier broke into the first-team and performed unforgettably through his first 10 games of the current campaign.
Reinier’s previous deal ran out in December 2020, which would have allowed clubs to make a pre-contract agreement this coming summer.
Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed by Éverton Ribeiro that he is growing ever-closer to signing a contract extension of his own.
The midfielder is currently on the books until 2021 and has been one of Jorge Jesus’ most reliable talismen, featuring 47 times out of 54 possible matches this season.
“We know we are playing great games and having a great time breaking records.
“But we don’t think about it much, we try to look game-by-game so we can be focused and improve with each game. This has been the biggest difference.
“The renovation of my contract is being handled and going well. We’ll have news soon.”
Flamengo will face rivals Vasco on Wednesday prior to Grêmio on Sunday – their last match before they travel to Lima, Peru for the Copa Libertadores final against River Plate.
