Real Salt Lake came out with a big and surprising 2-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Canadian side are the only team, along with New York City FC, who’ve won two away games so far in the season. The Caps are also on top of the Western Conference standings, and had won six out of the last eight clashes against RSL.
But nothing of that mattered on Saturday night for a hungry Mike Petke’s squad.
Luis Silva managed to get himself some space in the box and proceeded to send his shot to the back of the net before half-time.
The Claret and Cobalt doubled their lead thanks to Jefferson Savarino’s strike. The Venezuelan first goal of the season ended up being the crucial winning goal.
Brek Shea got the Whitecaps back in the game in injury time. But it was too late.
