Prior to the latest edition of the Clásico Capitalino, Raúl Jiménez made a confession that will surely send a shock-wave through the azulcrema fan-base.
“When I was 12-years-old, they made a combination team of América and Pumas and we went to Spain. The uniform was from Pumas and it was the only time,” he said on W Deportes Radio.
“After that, I would not do it again.”
The current Wolverhampton striker with nine goals in the Premier League this season made it clear that playing for one of América’s closest rivals was not an option.
“The truth, the truth is that I think don’t think so,” the 27-year-old forward said.
Several high-profile players have returned to North America to ply their trade, including Mexico international Miguel Layún. Layún and Jiménez were team-mates at Club América but the versatile wide-player signed with Monterrey in January.
“My priority, because of the relationship I had and still have with the board and with América, it would be my first option.”
