Chivas have eight new players in the squad and there’s no doubt that they have become immediate title contenders.
One of those new signings, Victor ‘Pocho’ Guzmán, believes they have to, at the very least, qualify for the play-offs and that the team has already adapted to the philosophy of manager Luis Fernando Tena.
“We have to qualify the Liguilla no matter what and chase after the Liga MX title. There is no other option,” he told the Chivas official website.
“I am happy to have this opportunity at Chivas and I want to get important things done at this institution.
“The adaptation to the idea of the ‘teacher’ is excellent, it shows that he is happy with everyone’s work.
“We know there will be good internal competition and that will make the team increase its level.
“I think we are at 60 or 70 per cent and these two weeks will help us a lot to start the tournament on the right foot.”
Chivas will begin the season on 11 January in front of their own fans against FC Juárez.
