Paolo Guerrero is scheduled to meet with FIFA’s president, Gianni Infantino, to discuss his doping case despite CAS’s decision being irreversible.

The Peruvian striker has a new strategy to overturn the 14-month suspension due to doping ruled by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. According to AS, Flamengo’s forward will meet with Infantino on Tuesday to talk about his case. Peru’s football federation president, Edwin Oviedo, is also expected to be present at the meeting that is to take place in Zurich, Switzerland.

Guerrero is expected to take a flight to Europe on Sunday. Due to his suspension from any professional football activity, Flamengo have suspended his contract and he can’t even train in the Brasileirão’s leader premises.

Despite the meeting indicating that FIFA understands that the punishment is excessive, football’s main organization in the planet are unable to revoke a doping suspension imposed by CAS.

Peru’s captain was given a 14-month suspension last Monday by the Court of Arbitration, after the doping test revealed the presence of the substance known as benzoilecgonina which is found in cocaine.

According to the footballer’s defense, the hotel where he was a guest at, accidentally served him a tea of coke. He already served a six-month suspension from November 2017 to early May, therefore Guerrero wouldn’t be able to come back to the pitch until January 2019.

If somehow Guerrero gets Infantino and FIFA to annul or ignore the Tribunal’s ruling for him to be able to play in the World Cup, it will be an unprecedented decision.
