Mexican sports company Grupo Orlegi purchased Atlas from TV Azteca last week and they
Alejandro Irarragorri, president of the board of Grupo Orlegi, also runs operations for Santos Laguna and could use his power to bring one of Mexico’s most well-known names to either of his sides.
According to reports out of Mexico, Oribe Peralta could leave América this summer to join either Atlas or Santos Laguna, as his contract is set to expire next summer.
Peralta joined Las Aguilas from Santos in summer 2014 and has scored 72 goals and contributed 27 assists in 210 matches in all competitions since his arrival.
América are said to be interested in a pair of Orlegi players, Brayan Garnica of Santos and Atlas midfielder Juan Pablo Vigón, and it’s said that either of the players could be used in negotiating a deal.
However, Peralta currently earns a salary of $2.7m (€2.4m) a season, one of the largest contracts in Liga MX, which could be a giant barrier.
