Minnesota United’s two-goal win over the Montreal Impact is just the latest of underwhelming performances from the Canadian outfit, as they have now failed to score in 382 consecutive minutes.

Montreal’s fourth loss in a row is the latest of poor performances for Remi Garde’s squad, as they have picked up just nine points from 13 matches.

Christian Ramirez and Miguel Ibarra provided the goals for Minnesota just six minutes apart. Bobby Shuttleworth picked up his second clean sheet of the season, making four saves.

The first half was largely uneventful, however, each team came close, rattling the crossbar – Ignacio Piatti in the 28th minute for Montreal, and Alexi Gómez just before the half for the home side.

Shortly after the break, Minnesota would take the lead through Christian Ramirez. A poor pass allowed the Loons to quickly counter and Evan Bush couldn’t get enough of the ball to keep it out of his net.

Six minutes later, Miguel Ibarra would put the exclamation mark on a stellar performance with this peach of a goal. Ibarra out-hustled his defender to the ball and put a beautiful curler over Bush to double their advantage.

Shuttleworth’s best save came in the 64th minute when Raheem Edwards tried to blast a shot to the near post, but United’s keeper was up to the task.

Jason Foster on Twitter broke down Ibarra’s brilliant performance from a statistical point of view.

Minnesota have been a bit of a pleasant surprise this season, improving to 5-1-7 after winning 10 matches in their inaugural season last year.
