Miguel Herrera impressed by efforts of young squad in Chivas draw | OneFootball

With many players missing due to injury and national team call-ups, América travelled to Chicago with a squad full of U-20 hopefuls to face Chivas in a friendly derby contest.

After the goalless draw at Soldier Field, Miguel Herrera highlighted the response of the youth players and clarified that they faced a major disadvantage due to the absences.

“Really playing with a team plagued by U-20 guys can’t help you much. I was glad to see how they faced things, in names, Chivas were far superior to them and the kids responded,” Herrera said after the match.

América will be thrilled to have had the FIFA international break come when it did as they prepare to take on Pumas in an all-important Clásico Capitalino clash.

América come into the match with a chance to go top of the table while Pumas are currently in ninth place, desperate for a win to put them into the Liguilla places.
