Club América supporters will have to wait just a little while longer to see Memo Ochoa make his long-awaited return.

Due to an adductor injury, Miguel Herrera has opted to rest the 34-year-old for this weekend’s Monarcas match and will instead allow the seasoned veteran to make his debut on Tuesday when they face Tigres in the Leagues Cup semi-finals.

“We have talked with him, he came here with little time to work, so we will take him little by little. Today he did a great job and the guy is doing well,” Herrera said in his pre-match press conference.

Oscar Jiménez will start in goal, having allowed just one goal in his two winning Liga MX starts this season, making five saves.

The winner of Tuesday’s match will face either Cruz Azul or Los Angeles Galaxy in the final on 18 September.
