Former Chivas boss and current San Jose Earthquakes manager Matías Almeyda confessed in an interview on Tuesday night that he ‘will always miss’ his Chivas squad.
Almeyda led Chivas to five trophies during his time at the club, including the illustrious 2018 CONCACAF Champions League crown.
When David Faitelson asked Almeyda: “Do you really miss Chivas?”, Almeyda was sincere in his response.
“The truth is that I will always miss (Chivas) because I got to achieve something very strong, very nice,” Almeyda told ESPN.
“The group of players I trained was wonderful, but more than anything, it was the way it happened. The way.
“Because they can always ask you: ‘what was it like to be a champion’? I will say: ‘You want me to tell you what it was like to become a champion? It was the path we travelled.'”
In his first season at San Jose, Almeyda massively improved the club, more than doubling their point total from 2018.
However, the Earthquakes still missed the play-offs, losing their last six matches to miss out by a mere four points.
