Luis Fernando Tena was more than willing to accept the 1-0 win his Chivas side took from 10-man Club Tijuana on Friday night.

The visitors took the lead in the the third minute when Uriel Antuna crossed for José Juan Macías to finish off a devastating counter-attack.

It got better for the Flock – on paper at least – when the hosts lost Mauro Lainez to a straight red card in the 19th minute.

However, Chivas were unable to make their numerical advantage count for much.

Indeed they were relieved to come away with all three points after Xolos striker Bryan Angulo smashed a 62nd-minute penalty off the upright.

Speaking to media after the game, Chivas manager Tena said: “They with 10 settled very well…fortunately we were able to go out with the three points, although it is true that we were not very bright, but today we were efficient.”

Tena admitted that his side were fortunate to come away with only their second win so far in the Clausura.

“Last week we felt we did not deserve to lose (at home to Cruz Azul) and today it seems that Xolos did not deserve to lose from the effort and how well he played in the second half.”

“We were better when we were 11 against 11, then they expel Lainez and they are very well accommodated, with great intensity, they made a very good game especially in the second half and I think they did not deserve to lose.”

“There are games that have to be won anyway. One would like to always be brilliant and be pleasant to the gallery, but it is not always possible.

“This is a difficult place. Guadalajara had years without winning here and we are happy, but aware that there is much to correct.”

The victory moved Chivas up into the top half of the Liga MX table, but other results may see them slide a little before the weekend is out.
