The 21-year-old scored his opening goal for the Bavarians, two years after signing from Benfica.

Back in Lisbon for the first time since 2016 Sanches finished a superb move, with the home fans getting up and applauding.

And Kimmich has admitted that he’s “never experienced anything like it”.

“Today Sanches played a huge game,” he told Sky. “I tip my hat to him.

“I’ve never experienced anything like that – your opposition’s fans getting up and clapping one of your goals.

“It’s a such a big deal for someone so young.”
