The loss suffered at the hand of Monterrey has produced a great deal of discomfort for Guadalajara manager José Cardozo.

The Chivas boss did not hide his displeasure after the team’s first back-to-back losses of the Clausura 2019.

“The team did not play well. It was the worst game since I arrived,” Cardozo said after the match. “This defeat hurts a lot because I think the opponent beat us without doing much.”

“The person in charge is me and I take the blame. I hope it’s the first and the last game that we play like that.”

Cardozo admitted that he was also perturbed by his players failing to enact his plan on the field

“I always said that you will always find one that’s better, but this game is played eleven against eleven. In football there are always mistakes.”

“What I did not like is that we did not go out playing proper. I prefer to lose 4-0, but with our style. We were very fearful with what we worked on, playing out,” he said.

Even though he was rather disgusted with the performance, Cardozo stressed that he was not worried about the team’s position as they are still projected to make the Liguilla.

“We are not bad, we are still in the qualification zone. We have to analyze what we did well and correct what we did wrong.”

“I’m not worried that they will fall emotionally because it’s a strong and hardworking team. The team will continue well.”
