Liverpool centre back Joël Matip has admitted that he wants to start helping his teammates at both ends of the pitch.
The Cameroon international has been a regular part of the Reds backline this term which has kept four clean sheets in the past seven Premier League games.
But the 26-year-old has revealed that he hopes to become more of a goal-threat as the season draws towards its climax, having contributed just a solitary league goal.
“I hope that a few more will follow as I am not happy with my goal return,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“I am a defender, I know, but I think to myself that I could score more goals for Liverpool than I already did.
“Maybe sometimes I need a little bit of luck, maybe sometimes I have to do something different when I go forward. I’m not desperate about it. I’m still positive and I hope my next goal is not too far away.”
