After spending well over $50m to bring in eight new players, to say that there are high expectations from this season’s Chivas squad would be an understatement.
Chivas have missed the last five Liguillas and were even in a very realistic relegation fight until Veracruz were disaffiliated by the FMF.
Many see Chivas as legitimate title contenders already and captain Jesús Molina recently gave a passionate speech to all the new arrivals.
“The role is to teach them a little about what we have already experienced and to learn from our mistakes so that they do not happen to them,” Molina said.
“We also must enjoy the process, knowing that it will not be an easy tournament.
“There are stumbling blocks but we have to enjoy it when we achieve our final goal, which is winning the Liga MX title.”
Chivas begin the season on Saturday when they host FC Juárez.
