Mexico international Héctor Moreno has denied that he ever turned down an offer to join Chivas.

The centre-back, who is currently on the books at Al-Gharafa in Qatar, was asked about the possibility of returning to Liga MX before he retires.

Moreno, who has amassed over 100 caps for El Tri, left open the possibility of a return to his homeland.

He also took the opportunity to address reports that he rejected an approach by the Flock before the current Clausura campaign due to financial reasons.

Speaking to ESPN’s Ahora o Nunca show, the 32-year-old said: “I still don’t know if I will come back. The thorn is stuck because my last game was the final that I lost with Pumas.”

Turning to those Chivas links, Moreno added: “I never rejected a proposal from Chivas for money. They can say a thousand things, but that they put words in my mouth is what I don’t like.”

Moreno came up through the ranks at Pumas UNAM, but left for Europe at 19 years of age after the 2007 Apertura loss to Atlante.

He spent time with AZ Alkmaar, Espanyol, PSV Eindhoven, Roma and Real Sociedad before moving to the Gulf last summer.
