Guilherme Arana left Corinthians in January 2018 to fulfil his dream of playing in Europe – landing with Sevilla in an €11m deal.
However, things have not gone according to plan for the young left-back, making just 25 appearances with the LaLiga outfit.
Despite being linked to a return to Brazil this year, the move never materialised and Arana now finds himself on loan at Serie A side Atalanta, who will compete in this season’s version of the Champions League.
Though he’s excited about his new opportunity in Europe, he vowed that he would return to the club where it all started… one day.
“I am very grateful to Corinthians, the club that opened the doors for me and my family, where I could be recognised.
“I wore the shirt for 12 years. Rest assured that one day I will return.
“I’m 22 and I want to play, I was crazy to play (at Sevilla) and I wasn’t being selected for the games. My family always mentored me and said God was with me no matter what I was going through.
“I went to work, knowing that the opportunity would appear somewhere. The move to Corinthians didn’t happen so I kept working.
“Thank God and together with my agents, I’m now at a great club where I feel very good.”
Arana made his debut off the bench in his first possible appearance – a 3-2 defeat against Torino.
