Corinthians goalkeeper Walter Artune could be on his way to Fluminense sooner rather than later.
According to Brazilian outlet Lance!, Fluminense’s vice president, Celso Barros has confirmed his interest in signing the 2-time Brazilian Serie A champion.
“He’s the type of keeper we are interested in,” said Barros. “We have spoken to Corinthians’ president and the player’s representatives about this possibility.”
However, according to Barros, no former offer has been sent as of yet.
Walter has been with Corinthians since 2013, where he has been the backup to Cássio for most of that time. In all, the 31-year-old has played in 77 matches and has won five titles with the Timão.
According to Lance!, Corinthians has confirmed to the keeper that they will not renew his contract that will expire in December, which could be another reason for the interest from Fluminense.
