If you thought Raheem Sterling’s goal in Manchester City’s 1-0 victory over Feyenoord on Tuesday night was just something which happened by chance, you were wrong.

Pep Guardiola is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the world not just because of the trophies he’s won but also because of the improvement he inspires in even the most seasoned professionals.

The 22-year-old winger is one of the most exciting talents to have emerged from England in many years yet a lack of end product in front of goal has often been an accurate criticism of his game.

However, the former Liverpool man has already scored an impressive 11 goals in 17 appearances this season, with his most recent coming in the Champions League on Tuesday.

And as the following video demonstrates, Sterling’s new found composure in front of goal is something he and his manager have worked on in training and their efforts are paying dividends.

If rumours are to be believed, City could have easily cut their losses in the summer and allowed Sterling to join Arsenal in exchange for Alexis Sánchez yet Guardiola wasn’t ready to give up on him and his faith is now being repaid on the pitch.

One of England’s most prodigious talents looks like he could be about to fulfil his huge potential after all, just in time for next summer’s World Cup.
