Since joining Cruzeiro in 2017, attacker Thiago Neves has won four titles for Raposa: two Copa do Brasils (2017 and 2018) and Campeonato Mineiros (2018 and 2019).

At age 34, the player-coach is running out of time on his career and told Fox Sports he still wants to play for Corinthians before he hangs up his boots.

“As I said a while ago, I want to play at Corinthians because I want to play for the best of Brazilian football.

“The negotiations last year were close.”

The usually strong Cruzeiro side are under the threat of relegation, currently one point above 17th-placed Fluminense, so Thiago Neves was unwilling to expand on his feelings toward Timão.

“I can not talk now, because our situation is complicated in Cruzeiro, we have long been focused on leaving the relegation zone.

“The willingness to play at Corinthians is something we all have and with me it is no different.”

Cruzeiro will have a very valuable chance to distance themselves from the bottom four when they host last-placed Avai on Monday.
