The current situation of Bryan Ruiz is far from what was expected by the player and, according to Brazilian media, Costa Rica’s captain is set to join another team in the city of San Pablo: Corinthians.
According to Brazilian outlet Radio Telegrama, Bryan Ruiz is unhappy at Santos and will leave to join Corinthians in a $2m move.
Ruiz has not stepped on the pitch since November 2018 and has previously asked for his Santos contract to be terminated as he has had disagreements with manager Jorge Sampaoli.
Ruiz has continued to train with the first-team and feature for the Costa Rica national team, where he has earned a staggering 124 caps and even scored against Mexico in this past summer’s Gold Cup quarter-finals.
Despite only appearing 14 times since his arrival from Sporting in summer 2018, Ruiz is one of the five highest-paid players on the Santos squad and has a contract until December 2020.
