The Corinthians board says they are not worried about losing manager Fábio Carille amid rumours he could join Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda at the conclusion of the Brasileirão campaign.
Carille, who won the Brasileirão title with the São Paulo outfit in 2017, has guided Corinthians to within seven points of leaders Flamengo and has them in the Copa Sudamericana semi-finals.
It’s been a spectacular turnaround after the side were nearly relegated last year under a trio of managers as Carille left in May to take over Saudi club Al-Wehda.
With reports of another possible departure circulating around Brazil, Corinthians director of football Duílio Monteiro Alves set the record straight, saying there has not been any contact from China.
“Carille has a contract with Corinthians until the end of next year and we are already working on planning for the 2020 season. Corinthians has not received any contact [from China],” said Duílio.
If Carille wants to break free from his Corinthians deal before the end of the 2020 campaign, he will be forced to pay the club a severance fee of roughly R$6m (€1.34m).
