In the first quarterfinals match of the Sul-Americana, Corinthians and Fluminense played to a 0-0 draw in Itaquera, setting up an epic showdown next Thursday at Maracanã.
After a uneventful first half in which no teams were able to create a clear chance, the best shot of the game came in stoppage time when Fagner crossed a low ball in the area that found the foot of Junior Urso who tried to give Corinthians the lead but the attempt was saved by Fluminense’s keeper, Igor Julião.
The second half was more of the same.
No team had a clear chance, just shots around the goal. Corinthians exchanged shots when Manoel headed in a ball but was saved by Julião and Fluminense’s Danielzinho’s shot was saved by Cásio.
