After three years, two Campeonato Paulista titles, and one Brasileirão crown, Clayson will leave Corinthians and join Bahia.
That’s according to Marco Bello of Meu Timão, who also claims that Clayson’s contract with Bahia is expected to last until 2023.
Corinthians currently hold 40% of Clayson’s economic rights and will sell 20% for roughly R$12m ($3m). Ituano will continue to own the remaining 60%.
All that remains is for Bahia and the player’s representatives to negotiate the player’s new salary.
The 24-year-old was widely criticized by fans but still remained one of their most regular faces in the starting XI.
Clayson appeared in 62 games for Corinthians in 2019 (32 in Brasileirão) and scored seven goals while contributing a joint-best 11 assists (tied with Junior Sornoza, who has been linked with a move to LDU Quito).
Athletico Paranaense was also interested in the winger, who joined Corinthians from Ponte Preta in May 2017 for R$3.5m ($850,000) with Claudinho (RB Bragantino) and Leo Artur (Ferroviária) going the other way in a swap deal.
