The new manager of Chivas, Luis Fernando Tena, has decided to leave Eduardo ‘Chofis’ López out of the squad to travel to California to face Monarcas and León.

At first it was thought that the player would be out of the squad due to an injury, however, journalist Alex Ramírez reported that, so far, the reason why he was not summoned by Tena is unknown.

This marks the first somewhat controversial decision in the Tena era, as López was a regular under former manager Tomás Boy but has yet to feature whatsoever under the new gaffer.

López, who is still hoping to earn his first Mexico call-up at age 25, has made 151 career Chivas appearances, scoring 15 goals and contributing an additional 10 assists.
