The board of Chivas will not consider, at the moment, lowering the salaries of their first-team players after several Liga MX clubs adhered to a clause in the Mexican labour law that allows this to be enacted by the government due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Pachuca Group issued official statements to confirm that their clubs, Pachuca and León, would stick to the decision to lower the wages of their first-team footballers.
However, they claimed that they will continue paying the women’s and reserve teams.
Pumas have also reduced the salaries of first-team players in order to pay their main staff – a decision that did not go well with the Pumas players.
Liga MX suspended play until further notice after matchweek 10 back on 14 March.
