With Chivas in desperate need of reliable attackers, supporters will hate to hear this little tidbit from Universal’s Alex Ramírez.
On Tuesday, Ramírez revealed that back in 2017, nine-time Mexico international winger Uriel Antuna was actually offered to Chivas by Santos Laguna, but the Chivas brass turned down the opportunity.
“Antuna was offered to Guadalajara about two years ago. They offered him to Chivas and if I tell you how much Santos asked for more you will get angry,” the journalist said.
Instead, Antuna was sold to Manchester City for an undisclosed fee and was immediately sent out to Dutch outfit Groningen on an 18-month loan before his current year-long spell with Los Angeles Galaxy.
Antuna broke out at this summer’s Gold Cup, scoring his first four international goals in six games as he helped lead Mexico to their eighth title.
Though Antuna had only made two professional appearances at the time, it was still evident that youngster possessed immense talent. Sorry Chivas fans.
