Matías Almeyda has all but ruled out returning to Liga MX to manage any club other than Chivas.

The former Argentina international was in charge of Los Rojiblancos from 2015 to 2018.

He then led Chivas to a Clausura and Copa MX double in 2017, before going on to claim the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League.

Almeyda departed the Flock in June 2018 after falling out with a club director. He took over at MLS side San Jose Earthquakes for the 2019 sason and is still in charge of the Californian franchise.

However, he clearly still holds Chivas close to his heart.

Speaking to Fox Sports MX, the 46-year-old said: “It is difficult to speak it, in principle I say that I think of a team; but I think not (manage a team other than Chivas).”

Almeyda failed to lead San Jose to the MLS playoffs last year.

They had taken just one point from their opening two league games before the 2020 season was suspended due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

If he were ever to be shown the door by the Earthquakes, there are many who would to see him back in charge at Akron Stadium.
