Guadalajara are not enjoying a pleasant Clausura 2019 and have begun looking to the future.

Chivas started the short season well under José Cardozo in January but the team has stuttered to a halt in recent weeks.

While it is not yet known whether Cardozo will be the manager at the conclusion of the current season, Chivas are preparing for future acquisitions.

The first name on their wish-list appears to be Monterrey midfielder Carlos Rodríguez.

With the team bumped out of the Liguilla places and largely sitting idle during the international break, the club has started to look towards summer reinforcements.

Mexican outlet Mediotiempo report that Rodríguez is among the top priorities for Chivas and that the rojiblancos would be serious about forking over the cash required to turn Monterrey’s head.

Any transfer for the young attacker will not take place until the summer but the rest of the season remains for the Rayados to drive up their asking price.

Mexico national team manager Gerardo Martino is also impressed with the 22 year old and gave Rodríguez his first start against Chile.

Chivas may be willing to swap one of their players such as 22-year-old forward Ronaldo Cisneros, either on loan or on a full transfer, in order to help convince their Liga MX rivals.
