Even though current Lobos BUAP manager Francisco Palencia has been in charge for less than 100 games in his coaching career, Chivas have put him on their list of potential successors to Jose Cardozo.

Chivas still have no manager for the 2019 Apertura season, as Alberto Coyote is under contract to lead Chivas until the end of the season.

Juan Carlos Osorio, Antonio Mohamed and even Hugo Sanchez have all distanced themselves from the position, and now the rojiblancos are rumored to sign their former sporting director.

According to David Medrano, the former player was in José Luis Higuera’s plans before he eventually hired Cardozo.

Before joining Lobos, Palencia managed Pumas from 2016 to 2017 and led them to 18 wins, nine draws, and 21 losses.

With Lobos, Palencia has a 9-8-16 record.
