“To the fans and the media:

“After a period of in-depth analysis of what the team requires at this moment, to have that mental and sporting turn that leads us to immediately rebound and qualify for the Liguilla, Club Deportivo Guadalajara has decided that Tomás Boy is, from this day, the coach of the first team.

“With a long career in the national football and full awareness of the various situations and scenarios that teams sometimes have to face, Tomás Boy has the experience of printing that self-esteem to his teams to go to the field to play to the maximum of their capacities and achieve the objective of improving each day.

“Club Deportivo Guadalajara relies on the ability and leadership of ‘El Jefe’ to help get Chivas out of the difficult scenario they currently face in the 2019 Clausura and wishes him success in such a task.

“Welcome Tomás to the most loved and popular team in Mexico!”

Chivas bet on the former Mexican footballer instead of Julen Lopetegui, who was very seriously being considered to take the reins.

This is the 10th Mexican team that Boy will be in charge of.
