Chivas boss José Cardozo has been singing the praises of another one of his players.

A few months ago, Cardozo compared Alan Cervantes to Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and now he has expressed his belief that Alan Pulido is good enough to play in Pep Guardiola’s team.

“Pulido has always caught my attention because of how he reacts to having to leave the penalty box,” Cardozo told reporters.

“He doesn’t have to play with his back towards goal, he has to play on his better side (comfortable on his shooting foot), we’ve worked with him and he’s been very cooperative.

“He’s a striker that’s tough to mark, he’s powerful, has a good shot, all he’s missing is better heading skills. If ‘Puli’ could (head better), he’d be playing for Manchester City by now.”

Chivas have a huge game this weekend when they host Atlas in the Clásico Tapatío and Cardozo is confident his side can get a result against their local rivals.

“It’s a very important clásico and it means a lot to the fans and to us,” he said.

“The players only think about the game in the build-up to the clásicos. We must know what we are going to do and arrive motivated by what it represents for the city.

“The demand is always there and we have a lot of responsibility.”
