After loan spells at León, Xolos, and most recently Lobos BUAP, Chivas announced the return of goalkeeper Toño Rodriguez after the two sides agreed to a new deal.

Rodriguez had a fantastic season with Lobos but his future was up in the air as his contract was set to expire at the end of June.

Lobos had the opportunity to sign the goalkeeper for $3m (€2.7m) but opted against activating their purchase option at the end of the day.

Rodriguez made his professional debut with Chivas in 2013 and has made 63 appearances for the club, earning 15 clean sheets.

However, the soon-to-be 27-year-old went out on loan in January 2017 and spent half a season each at León and Xolos.

After spending the 2018 Clausura back at Chivas, Rodriguez spent the last year at Lobos, where he established himself as one of the better goalkeepers in Liga MX.

Rodriguez and Raúl Gudiño will now compete for the starting job ahead of the 2019 Apertura.
