It was a weekend to forget for Chivas and their supporters as the club suffered a pair of 3-0 defeats to both Portuguese side Benfica and Santos Laguna.
Following Sunday’s loss, Chivas decided to part ways with two of their long-time centre-backs for the rest of the 2019-20 campaign.
Miguel Basulto, who has featured 60 times for Chivas since his arrival in 2015, will spend the next year at Ascenso MX side Zacatepec, joining team-mates Tony Alfaro and Carlos Ochoa.
Fellow centre-back Hedgardo Marín, a six-year veteran of the club, has joined Mineros de Zacatecas.
Marín, who has 96 Chivas appearances under his belt, started 10 matches during the 2018 Apertura but saw his role dramatically reduced last season and featured for just 450 minutes.
