The two teams clashed for an all red affair at the Akron Stadium on Sunday night for the matchday 3 showdown in Liga MX.

Alan Pulido scored in the 57th minute for the home side. The 27-year-old Mexico international forward found a pocket of space and was able to turn before firing past goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera.

In a touching moment, Pulido celebrated his goal by paying respects to goalkeeper Raúl Gudiño and his partner who recently announced they had lost their pregnancy.

Once everyone had a chance to dry their eyes, the game resumed and Toluca looked to immediately hit back.

Enrique Triverio appeared to scored for the visitors in the 76th but VAR was used to disallow the tally, though Toluca manager Hernán Cristante was not pleased with the five minute delay or the ultimate decision.

The result maintains a perfect start for the Sacred Flock who move into first place with nine points from three games.

The Red Devils are no longer undefeated and have to settle for seventh place, with six points after matchday 3.
