Bayern Munich are getting ready for their Champions League semifinal clash against Real Madrid, and Joshua Kimmich is making sure referee decisions’ don’t affect the outcome.
Last year, the Bundesliga champions faced Madrid in the quarter-finals. Los Blancos ended up eliminating Bayern with a 6-3 aggregate score, but not before a couple controversial offside goals benefiting the Spanish giants weren’t called off by the refs.
In a subtle manner, Kimmich sent a message to the referees of the upcoming games against Madrid by making a clear reference to last year’s calls.
“Last year we had bad luck with the refereeing,” Kimmich is quoted as saying by Marca.
The German international also expressed confidence in regards to the Bavarian club chances of defeating Europe’s reigning monarchs.
“We are determined to reach the final,” Kimmich said.
The first leg of the semi-final between Bayern and Madrid is scheduled for Wednesday night.
