Bayern Munich are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon youngster Gelson Martins, according to reports.
Portuguese sports daily O Jogo have claimed that the Bundesliga giants are keen to land the 22-year-old, who they see as the long-term successor to Arjen Robben.
The wide forward is seen as one of the brightest stars in Liga Nos, having stared in the Lisbon club’s first team since 2016.
This term however, he’s taken his game on to the next level – scoring and assisting nine goals apiece in 30 appearances.
Sporting want to hold out until after the World Cup before negotiating with Jupp Heynckes’ men. Martins has a contract which runs until 2022, with a buyout clause of €60m.
The Bavarians see that as good value though, for a player they consider worthy of replacing Robben once he is slowly phased out within the next couple of years.
