The Gunners are in need of a defensive shake-up this summer with Per Mertesacker retiring and Laurent Koscielny struggling with a chronic achilles problem.

Dias has a €60m release clause but major outlets in Portugal believe Benfica would sell for €40m – more than what they got when selling Victor Lindelöf to Manchester United last summer.

The Amadora born centre-back made his senior breakthrough this season after impressing for Benfica’s infamous ‘B’ team and has since established himself as a starter.

Correio da Manhã also claim that Andrija Živković is on the Gunners’ radar and could be a direct replacement for Santi Cazorla who is unlikely to renew his contract.
